5.8.8 Current Control
SECTION 5 MACHINE TESTING / TROUBLESHOOTING / SERVICE
Current control on the Powercut 650 is controlled from the front panel. The variable resistor R1 mounted
on the front panel is connected to the positive 5-volt source of PCB1 on R1 pin 3 via P6-13 and to the 40A
branch of the PCB1 voltage divider on R1 pin 2 via P6-6. R1 pin 1 is connected to ground through the P6-
12 connection of the PCB1 control board.
The variable of R1 connected to P6-6 ows to pin 6 of the voltage comparator IC5 on the control board.
The output signal of the comparator modulates Q7, the output of which is connected to pin 6 of the
pulse width modulator chip. This has the eect of varying the duty cycle of the generated waveform and
thereby increasing or decreasing a given current level.
